Morning hike at Vilander bluff, the highest bluff on the Meramec, 200 ft above the river. This is part of Onondaga Cave State Park, but is in a separate area from the main park.

Some uneven terrain. Mostly flat.

Vilander Bluff Trail is a 1.7 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Bourbon, Missouri that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Vilander Bluff Trail Uses: Hiking Blazes: Orange Type: Loop Trailhead: East of Highway N, south of the Meramec River’s Campbell Bridge crossing on Thickety Ford Road Estimated Hiking Time: 55 minutes 1.25 Miles The biggest draw of this trail is Vilander Bluff, over the Meramec River.
